Wk 5C- Economics 1(a) Southpaw (2015) Hindi / English Full Movie. Southpaw (2015) The story takes place in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Southpaw, directed by Antoine Fuqua, stars Al Pacino as Jake La Motta (Jake to the world, and Sonny to his friends), who is a mobster from a bygone era, a role for which he has been nominated for an Academy Award (for Best Actor), and portrayed by Pacino in a bravura performance. The film is based on the real life story of Jake La Motta and his life in the Catskill Mountains. The movie stars Al Pacino, Uma Thurman and Chris Meloni.
The action takes place in New York City and environs. La Motta (Pacino) is an aging boxer, recovering from a long layoff due to injuries. He has recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for manslaughter. He is befriended by Sonny (Meloni), a loose, heavy-handed wise-guy, who attempts to persuade La Motta to return to the ring and reclaim his title. La Motta plans to use Sonny's money to retire, and later gives him advice on how to invest. He also becomes friends with a charismatic prison counselor, and learns how to control his temper and resentments. Jake loses badly in the first fight he fights after being released, but wins the final match.
